Anderson Silva Vs Kelvin Gastelum Officially Confirmed

The Spider Returns

Today the UFC officially announced Anderson Silva Vs Kelvin Gastelum for their Shanghai debut on November 24th. This fight was due to take place at UFC 212 back in June but Gastelum was pulled due to a possible anti doping violation (marijuana)

Two months on from the cancellation of the fight and Gastelum was back for UFC Long Island where he faced former middleweight champion, Chris Weidman.

Gastelum lost via 3rd round submission in that fight and put on a good performance up until the submission. The size factor seemed to be too much facing Weidman and it looked like Gastelum may attempt going back down to welterweight as stated by Gastelum at the Long Island post fight conference

“I feel like 170 is my home, I need to reassess some things, change my lifestyle up a little bit. I think my next fight should be at 170. That’s what I’m gonna push for.”

This will be Anderson Silva’s first fight since his close decision win over Derek Brunson at UFC 208 in February, the Spider seems to be closing out his career and taking fights for the love of competing, Gastelum is young, hungry and game, this could be Silva’s toughest test in quite some time.

More info on this hotly anticipated card as news is released.
