First 3 fights announced for UFC Glasgow

Today the UFC announced the first 3 fights for their return to Glasgow, first up is Paul “Bearjew” Craig Vs Khalil “The War Horse” Rountree

Craig will be looking to bounce back from his first professional loss against Tyson Pedro at UFC 209, the same fighter who gave Rountree his last loss. Rountree is a former TUF finalist with a professional record of  6-2 record who rebounded from his loss to Pedro with a KO victory in February.

With the news of the fight Craig said “I have never fought in my home country as a professional so to be added to the card in Glasgow, 10 minutes away from my home is incredible,”

The last show at the Hydro was hailed for having a great atmosphere, Craig can expect another amazing crowd in July

“Hearing the Scottish fans cheering for me as I walk out into the arena on July 16 will be spectacular.”

The buzz for MMA in Scotland the last time the UFC were in town was at an all time high, Craig hopes with the UFC coming back, MMA in the UK can continue to grow.

“I hope MMA in Scotland and across the UK continues to grow. The sport here is getting more and more exposure, and I want more athletes from Scotland to get the recognition they deserve.”

Also announced for the card is England’s Mark Godbeer Vs Justin Willis, Godbeer got his first victory for the origination back in March and will be looking to get another win in the heavyweight division against American Willis.

The third fight announced is Jack Marshman Vs Ryan Janes, Marshman at only 27 has had 27 professional fights (21-6) so it seemed we would be seeing him in the UFC sooner rather than later. He won his UFC debut but lost via KO in his second fight. Janes will also be looking to rebound, he doesn’t have the long record like Marshman but still sports an impressive professional record of 9-2 going 8-0 before his loss back in February so this is sure to be an entertaining match-up.

 

Tickets for UFC Glasgow go on sale Friday, June 2nd at 10 AM BST on Ticketmaster but Fight club members can get them on Wednesday May 31st at 10 AM BST and UFC Newsletter subscribers will have a chance on Thursday June 1st, also at 10 AM BST
