John Hathaway injured, Gunnar Nelson awaiting new opponent for UFC 189 (Updated)
The hits presumably keep coming (If the Jose Aldo injury story becomes official)
Hathaway has suffered an injured in training and has had to withdraw MMAjunkie.com reported.
Gunnar and Hathaway were set to face off at UFC 189 on July the 11th, a card that no doubt will be one of the biggest of the year.
Gunnar Nelson is currently in Vegas training with Conor McGregor who will be in the main event but with current injury rumors, his fight with Jose Aldo is currently in jeopardy.
UPDATE
Brandon Thatch is now in for Hathaway
Fox Sports announced this change as well as Howards new opponenet, Cathal Pendred.
“Thatch was originally slated to face Howard on the prelims, but with the injury to Hathaway it left Nelson without an opponent.
Thatch will now step into the fight with Nelson as part of the UFC 189 main card on July 11 in Las Vegas.
Nelson’s teammate Cathal Pendred, who just defeated Augusto Montano at UFC 188 two weeks ago, will now step in to face Howard instead.” FOX SPORTS
