On Top ‘Valour’ play by play and results

12651237_1181490701878387_7307811042018140687_nOn Top ‘Valour’ took place at the ON-X Sport and Community Centre, Linwood, Saturday February 6th and featured a host of  amateur bouts and a professional main event fight between Craig McIntosh vs Chris Bungard  

Craig McIntosh vs Chris Bungard:

Round 1
Tentative start from both fighters, light kicks and strikes from to start off. Bungard gets the early takedown but gets caught in a triangle, Mop seems to have it in tight but Bungard fights and eventually breaks free, Bungard passes guard and lands vicious blows to end the round.

Round 2
Bungard lands an aggressive jumping front kicks to start the round, it lands hard but Mop recovers, both fighters keep it standing for the majority of the round with Bungard landing a couple of strong front kicks sending Mop off balance against the cage.


Round 3
Bungard uses more from kicks at the. Whining if the round and tries to open up, Mop grabs Bungard and drags him to the mat and try to mount an offence from top but Bungard reverses and ends up in full guard. Bungard continues to work from the top, landing some good strikes till the bell.
Result
Chris Bungard Wins via unanimous decision

Alexander Campbell vs Luke Westwood:
Round 1
Westwood catches Campbell with a head kick early in the fight and rushes in to finish, Campbell recovers quickly and springs back to his feet. Both fighters trade shots and grapple against the cage, Campbell gets the takedown with a roar from the crowd but ends up in a triangle to finish the round.

Round 2
Campbell takes another shot early and hits the mat but springs back up and engages. The 2nd low blow of the night halts the fights but it gets underway just as quick as it happens, a failed guillotine attempt sends Westwood to the mat where he defends from his back, Campbell tries to keep busy but doesn’t get much done from the top.

Round 3
Westwood backs Campbell up against the cage and tries to one an uppercut but Campbell ducks under and gets the takedown. Campbell works from top position for the rest of the round with Westwood Staying busy from his back.
Result
Luke Westwood Wins via unanimous decision

Danny Naismith vs Euan Gemmill:
Round 1
Gemmill starts strong putting Naismith against the cage and getting it the mat, Gemmill gets caught in a guillotine but fights his way out.

Round 2
This round Naismith comes out strong landing some significant strikes, he gets Gemmill against the cage and works knees, the fight separates from the cage and Naismish drags Gemmill to the ground and finishes the round in a dominant position.


Round 3
The fight hits the mat quick after an exchange against the cage, Naismith gets on top and tries to finish but Gemmill defends, Gemmill gets up but but the bell rings soon after
Result
Danny Naismith wins via unanimous decision

David Slattery vs Dan Morgan:
Round 1
Slattery throws a kick early with Morgan rushing in for the takedown, Slattery tries to get back up but ends up back on the mat, Slattery rolls Morgan and gets side control and finishes the round strong with strikes.

Round 2
Both fighters keep it standing for the majority of the round, Slattery with the obvious reach advantage keeps Morgan at bay, Morgan catches a leg kick and takes Slattery down. Morgan looks to take top position but Slattery rolls him, gets mount and reigns down strikes until the referee steps in.
Result
David Slattery wins via TKO

Liam Skinner vs Kev Manning:
Round 1
Both fighters rush out that results in a scramble, on the way down Skinner locks in a guillotine and with Manning driving forward rolls back and tries to finish the sub from mount and then from his back, Manning eventually escapes and fights from the top. Skinner escapes but ends up getting tied up with Manning trying to finish a sub

Round 2
Fight goes to the ground with some sub attempts, once it gets back to the feet there is confusion between both fighters Skinner turns his back and Manning rushes him, Skinner catches Manning and drops him and finishes the fight on the mat.

Liam Skinner wins via TKO

Nathan Hughes vs Dane Dickson:
Round 1
The fight goes against the cage but a knee to the groin halts the action, the fight is back underway quickly. Both Fighters break from the cage and Dickson catches Hughes on the way out dropping him, Dickson swarms Hughes on the mat but is unable to finish. Hughes manages to get back up but takes another big shot. Hughes back to his feet again and still active lands a great left flush to the cheek of Dickson, both fighters continue to exchange till the bell, fast paced round.


Round 2
Slower pace to round 2 with the fight hitting the mat quick, Dickson take top position but doesn’t advance, referee stands them up and the fighters begin to strike, with seconds left in the round Hughes swarms Dickson sending him to the mat as the bell rings (landing a shot or 2 after the bell) Dickson’s corner pulls him from the fight as he is unable to continue

Nathan Hughes Wins via TKO

Roddy Campbell vs Justin Burlinson:
Round 1
Campbell shoots in for the double leg and gets some air on Burlinson, slamming him to the mat, a quick scramble and Burlinson sinks in a tight guillotine.

Connor Imison vs Sam Green:
Round 1
Imison comes out fast throws a some shots and takes Green to the mat, Green tries to escape but Imison is very slick on the ground and transitions so side and locks in an arm triangle. Green defends well escapes and survives to the bell.

Round 2
Imison Gets the fight to the mat again, clearly where he wants to be. Green tries to escape but Imison is just all over him, Imison gets mount and looks to finish but Green bursts out and scrambles. Imison I control takes Greens back and sinks in the rear naked choke.
Result
Connor Imison wins via submission (rear naked choke)

Philip Chan vs Stuart Carroll:
Round 1
Carroll comes out fast and just throws himself at Chan, both fighters recover with Carroll keeping control against the cage. Carroll tries to work against the cage but Chan eventually breaks free. Both fighters trade shots with Carroll taking the advantage till the bell.

Round 2
Slower start to this round with Chan trying to throw sidekicks but does little damage, Carroll lands some good strikes making Chan back up against the cage. With Chan in trouble Carroll continues to throw punches until the referee steps in and calls the fight.

Pawel Wlodarczak vs Alex Box:
Round 1
Aggressive start by both fighters with head kicks thrown early, Box tries to put together combinations but Wlodarczak ducks and gets the takedown. On the mat Box gets Wlodarczak up and slams him to the ground but ends up in a. I’ve trust em by Wlodarczak, it looks right but Box makes it to the end of the round.

Round 2
Box gets Wlodarczak against the cage and throwing technique out the window just drags Wlodarczak to the mat. Box works from top position with Wlodarczak trying to control from the bottom


Round 3
Box comes out and throws some strikes, Wlodarczak shoots in but Box defends it,
Wlodarczak fights for a single and gets Box down, Box recovers and Wlodarczak turtles leaving his neck open, Box takes the advantage and sinks in a lovely Peruvian neck tie.
Result
Alex Box wins via submission (Peruvian necktie)

Brian Borland vs Kaylen Johnson: 
Round 1
Both fighters come out aggressive trading shots, Johnson with his back against the cage keeps his composure and does will to counter Borland, Johnson throughout the round lands multiple leg kicks, dropping Borland at one point with them.

Round 2
Similar start to round two, Johnson gets the better of the strikes and looks to finish Borland against the cage but he recovers and gets out, the two fighters trade and Borland ends up against the cage once again. This time Johnson finishes him with Borland covering up until the referee steps in and calls the fight.

Keir Harvie vs Ollie Southern:
Round 1
Both fighters out and active immediately,
Harvie is light on his feet and utilizing good movement, Southern seems to have the striking advantage, throwing multiple strikes and mixing it up with kicks. Just as Southern seems to be getting comfortable Harvie takes him down and works from the mat.

Round 2
The fight goes against the cage early with Harvie taking Southern down, Southern gets back to his feet but ends use back on the mat. Both fighters escape and cross the cage, Harvie tries to lock in a standing arm triangle but has both arms tied up, he takes Southern to the ground with the sub attempt still locked in but Southern escapes.

Round 3
The fight goes against the cage quickly and to the mat, Harvie tries to work but Southern gets back up, bathe fighter grapple against the cage till the bell.

Result
Keir Harvie wins by unanimous decision

Gavin White vs Ashley Cooper: 
Round 1
Gavin shoots in early and secures the first takedown of the night, Gavin tries to advance from full guard but but Ashley keeps him locked in for the entire round.

Round 2
Ashley tries to engage at the beginning of the round but Gavin ducks and takes Ashley to the ground. Gavin tries to work from full guard against the cage but Ashley keeps his guard locked and works over under and head control, saving himself damage but ultimately not scoring points.

Round 3
Ashley throws some shots and goes in for the takedown, Gavin defends against the cage but eventually ends up on his back for the first time in the fight. Ashley manages to get a guillotine and it looks tight but but Gavin escapes and takes top control, the referee stands them up, Ashley engages but gets put on his back pretty quickly.

Result
Gavin White wins via unanimous decision
