UFC 199: Bisping captures UFC Gold

UFC 199 was one hell of a night, the action was fast right from the opening bout between Polo Reyes and Dong Hyun Kim which some called the greatest opening fight they have saw on a UFC fight card.

There was also the emotional impact lingering over the Kevin Casey fight, Casey being the son in-law to the late great Muhammad Ali.

Most importantly though, Michael Bisping shocked the world by coming into the Octagon on two weeks notice and finished Luke Rockhold to claim the UFC Middleweight title, many including myself had given Bisping little chance, I mean 2 weeks notice to step in and take the crown from Luke Rockhold seems like a monumental task.

Bisping took up the challenge and blew everyone away with his finish of Rockhold in the first round, shocking the world. Looking at the title pic to me is still crazy, Bisping has always been there just never managing to climb to the top of the mountain but always believed he could.

The finish was spectacular and now we just need to wait and see what happens, could his first title defence be in the UK? who knows, only time will tell.

“People say I don’t deserve it. People say I’ve got no punching power. Check this out, first-round knockout. Apart from my wife and my children, this is the greatest day of my life.”
