Nate Diaz set to return against Dustin Poirier at UFC 230
Nate Diaz Returns
After two years Nate Diaz returns to the Octagon in a somewhat strange matchup against top contender, Dustin Poirier. Diaz is coming off of a loss and a two year layoff and goes straight into what could be a number one contender matchup.
This story was first reported by the LA Times and is set to be announced at the UFC press conference prior to UFC 227.
Nate Diaz is a Fan favourite and having a win over Conor McGregor obviously helps his case in getting a fight this prestigious after a layoff.

Dustin Poirier is coming off of a second round TKO against Eddie Alvarez in what was an exciting rematch. Poirier has been on a tear as of late and had seemingly been gunning for a title show, having won eight of his nine fights at lightweight, it clearly wasn’t out of the question but Poirier has decided to go another route.
Another note is that Poirier asked for this fight nearly two years ago and that may have played a part in him taking it now in 2018.
